Medallion Hunt Clues

Clue #1:

At “Maple Grove’s Summer At Its Best”
To all the sluethers, may we suggest,
You put your talents to the test.

A bronze medallion lies in wait
For a lucky hunter to locate.

Don’t look too high or down too low,
And buy your button before you go!

Clue #2:

Take a walk through the park,
Searching before it gets dark.
Step lively when you search for me
And stay off private property.

So many places to hunt for what you seek
If only birds and frogs could speak.

Clue #3:

Nestled among natures floor
with a view that poets can’t ignore
Lies the prize you’re looking for.

Play some tennis or watch some ball
While listening to the state bird’s call

Clue #4:

Pack a snack nice and light
Just in case the fish don’t bite.

Bring your suit to take a swim
No need to go out on a limb.

Listen to the lifeguard’s speech
While relaxing on the beach.

Location: from the lower park heading
to the upper park just off the paved
trail about 10 feet in on the
walking path between two rocks

Clue #6: (Not given as Medallion was found)

You are warned that it gets steep
So don’t get piled up in a heap

Huff and puff, but don’t complain

Just find what’s missing near this lane

Winner will receive $500 cash

Our Maple Grove Days celebration will once again feature the popular hunt for the medallion. The cash prize for finding the maple leaf shaped medallion is $500. Clues for the medallion hunt will be published each Wednesday in the Osseo-Maple Grove Press beginning June 3, as well as on the Maple Grove Days website at www.maplegrovedays.com.  These clues will be updated every Wednesday through July 8 or until the medallion is found. For daily updates on whether or not the medallion has been found, searchers can call 763-494-5956. Contest guidelines and rules are as follows:

In order to claim the prize, the successful searcher must have purchased a $3 Maple Grove Days button. The buttons are available for sale at the Maple Grove Community Center or from Maple Grove Ambassador candidates. Proceeds benefit the Ambassador program. Get one early.  Information on savings and participating businesses can be found here.

  1. The maple leaf medallion will be found on a City of Maple Grove park land area.
  2. No digging will be necessary.
  3. No climbing will be necessary.
  4. No disassembly will be required to find the medallion, including irrigation heads, light fixtures and park equipment.
  5. Searchers must not deface public property or otherwise violate laws. Please note: Park hours are 6am to 11pm.
  6. Searchers assume all risk for personal injury.
  7. No employees or their family members of the City of Maple Grove, the Maple Grove Community Organization or Sun Publications are eligible to win.
  8. The winner’s name will be announced Saturday, July 11, at the Maple Grove Days festival.
  9. Taxes due on the prize winnings are the responsibility of the winner.
  10. If the medallion is not found by 3pm, Thursday, July 9, the hunt will terminate and the money will roll to next year.
  11. The decisions of Maple Grove Community Organization are final.
