Founded in 1999, the Maple Grove Ambassador Scholarship Program continues its rich tradition of providing the opportunity for young women to serve as stewards of our community through volunteerism local community and civic events.

Together with many local organizations including the Maple Grove Rotary and Maple Grove Lions Club, businesses, the City Council and more, the Maple Grove Ambassadors spend the majority of their time serving within the Maple Grove and Osseo communities. The Ambassadors also spend time throughout the greater community attending festivals across the state of Minnesota sharing the good word of Maple Grove. With these experiences, they encourage others to visit our beautiful and friendly community and to participate in our favorite Maple Grove Days celebration in July.

Do you or someone you know have a passion for leadership and volunteerism – someone who have what it takes to serve Maple Grove as one of our three Ambassadors?

The Maple Grove Ambassador Program is currently seeking young women, between the ages of 17-21 who have graduated from high school, or who will graduate this year to participate in the 2009 “Candidate Experience” held June through mid-July. During this experience, candidates will participate in many activities designed to enhance personal and professional growth, while refining their confidence and public speaking ability. This experience is highly valuable for all candidates no matter the outcome of who is selected as an Ambassador.

Interested candidates must possess strong leadership and communication skills and have a desire to make a difference within the community through many hours of volunteerism.

Applications for the 2009 Candidate Experience will be available on January 1 and can be downloaded at www.maplegroveambassadors.com and will also be available at Maple Grove and Osseo Senior High Schools and the Maple Grove Community Center. Deadline for applications is May 1.

The chosen Ambassadors will represent Maple Grove at local community events such as business grand openings and National Night Out, and will also make appearances at local schools and other community events including Relay for Life, Polar Bear Plunge, the Farmer’s Market and much more. Traveling beyond the borders of Maple Grove, the Ambassadors will ride the award-winning Maple Grove float in parades, promote Maple Grove during neighboring festival events, and partake in the Minneapolis Aquatennial and St. Paul Winter Carnival festivities.

Businesses who wish to donate to the Ambassador program or to sponsor a 2009 candidate are also welcomed. Please call Lindsey at 763-300-2814 with any questions.
